On Wednesday night around 11:00, Dunlap Police officers observed a beige 2017 Toyota Camry driving erratic on Hwy 28 traveling southbound in the city limits. Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which initially pulled over but then took off before officers could exit their vehicles.
Officers began a pursuit of the vehicle. The driver of the car exceeded speeds of 100 plus miles per hour.
The driver of the vehicle allegedly began throwing drugs out of the vehicle.
The pursuit continued near the Marion County line, where the driver of the vehicle drove into a field, bailed out of the car, and fled on foot. Inside the vehicle, in plain view, officers located 85 fentanyl pills.
After a search of the area, officers located the driver, Aaron Daniels of Whitwell, TN, at a nearby residence.
Daniels was charged with Felonious Possession of Schedule II (Fentanyl), Reckless Endangerment, Felony Evading, Tampering with Evidence and Evading Arrest.
