On Tuesday, the Monteagle Police Department arrested the Super 8 and Mountain Inn owners. Dakshaben Patel and Harshil Patel are being charged with filing False Reports to police officers, a Class E felony.
According to a press release from Monteagle Police, on July 18, 2023, Officer Avery McGinness and K9 Officer Brant Voss conducted surveillance (due to high drug transactions in the area) on the back side of Super 8 and Mountain Inn when two people with felony warrants out of Franklin County were seen on the balcony. After a foot chase pursued through the parking lot, the officers took both suspects into custody.
It was later found that the hotel in Monteagle had an alleged hideout room at the corner of the building where the wanted suspects had been living.
Both Patel subjects had been advised multiple times about the wanted suspects and allegedly lied to officers about their residence at the hotel.
