After Viral Video Showing Dunlap Man’s Arrest He has been Indicted by the Grand Jury

A video of an arrest by the Jasper Police Department began circulating on social media in August 2023. A Marion County Grand Jury has now indicted the person arrested.

Sequatchie Valley Now obtained the actual body cam video of the entire traffic stop. The indictment charges 52-year-old Samuel Isaac Hrynecwicz of Dunlap with two counts of assault on a police officer, assuming a false identity, and obstruction of a police investigation.

Jasper Police stopped a vehicle for running a stop sign near Parkridge West Hospital on Hwy 28. The officers approached the car. When they looked inside the vehicle, they saw a weapon that they said looked like a semi-automatic rifle. The occupants were asked to get out of the car. The driver did, but a male passenger refused and did not identify himself.

Officers are heard on the body cam asking numerous times for the man to get out of the vehicle. The officers used pepper spray, a Taser, and a palm strike to get Hrynecwicz out of the car.
