Scam Alert from the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office

The Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office is advising citizens of a scam involving a telephone call from someone claiming to be a member of Homeland Security. The caller states that they have an arrest warrant for the person they are calling and/or will obtain an arrest warrant if a certain amount of money is not paid through a money order, a reloadable card, Cash App, Venmo, or PayPal.

This SCAM is not new, but the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens that NO agencies (including the Sheriff’s Office) will solicit money over the phone or advise you to purchase money orders or reloadable money cards.

Never send money over the phone to any organization without first verifying the legitimacy of the request.
