Mass Water Rescue Conducted Monday Night at Nickajack Cave Wildlife Area
At 8:24 Monday night, Haletown Volunteer Fire Department, New Hope Fire, TWRA, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Nickajack Cave Wildlife Area for a mass water rescue.
A tour group of 33 stranded kayakers, including children, had become stranded. High winds and choppy waters had formed ahead of last night’s storm.
Puckett EMS arrived on the scene to begin triage of those rescued. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.
