Strong Storms Powered their way through the area Wednesday Night into Thursday Morning

Six high-voltage TVA transmission lines were damaged, and multiple structures were destroyed by tornados and strong storms in Tennessee and north Alabama on Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Power has been rerouted to most of the affected local power companies, and crews are working on repairs.

Local power companies are working hard to assess and safely repair local system damage. If you see a downed power line, assume it’s still energized.

Barker Cove Rd in Palmer, TN.

Gruetli-Laager and Palmer in Grundy County were hit hard, with trees down, power outages, and water completely tearing a road in half.

Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative has worked long hours to restore power to multiple areas.

Henagar, Alabama, was struck by a tornado. Thankfully, residents in a mobile home park survived after their trailers were flattened.

Multiple school systems were either closed or went in late on Thursday.

Highway 41 in Haletown reopened on Thursday afternoon. At 8 a.m., Haletown firefighters and electric company workers began clearing trees from roadways.
