On December 14th, 2023, Grundy County resident Devon Drake Rymer was found deceased. At the request of the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, the 12th Judicial District Drug Task Force (DTF) began assisting in the investigation.
After conducting an investigation and receiving a report from the Medical Examiner’s Office which confirmed the cause of death was an overdose, DTF Agents were able to identify the source of the narcotics that led to the overdose death.
DTF Agents presented evidence to the Grundy County Grand Jury which returned an indictment for Whitney Northcutt of Palmer, Tennessee on the charge of 2nd Degree Murder.
On July 15th, 2024, DTF Agents and Grundy County Investigators arrested Northcutt and booked her into the Grundy County Jail where she is being held on a $100,000 bond.
