South Pittsburg Mountain Volunteer Fire Department Receives Grant

The South Pittsburg Mountain Volunteer Fire Department recently received turnout gear from the Gary Sinise Foundation for all its firemen. This gear expires every ten years, equipping one person costs about $4,500. This doesn’t include the air pack, mask, and tank, which is about another $10,000 per person.

The fire department received a Gary Sinise Foundation grant for $71,288. Lt. Brandon Gilliam, with the help of Secretary/Treasurer Barry McDevitt, acquired the grant and one for our air packs from the TN Fire Marshalls Assoc. for $68,275. The Bridgestone company will replace all tires on the departments’ vehicles.
