The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of a current scam that involves Bitcoin and the extortion of personal information. All of the reports indicate the scammer is using the same general guideline, threats of spyware or malware being on the victim’s phone and monitoring the victim’s apps/browsing history with the threat of releasing embarrassing information/pictures of the victims to their phone and social media contacts if payment isn’t being made using bitcoin.
