Grundy County Sheriff to face POST Commission due to Accusations

Grundy County Sheriff Heath Gunter

The State of Tennessee has granted a later trial for Grundy County Sheriff Heath Gunter.

The sheriff may have his certification revoked or suspended after a letter reveals he has provided false information since being elected.

The case has been rescheduled for a hearing at the POST Commission in Nashville on January 16, 2025.

Commissioners say the sheriff’s actions show he failed to maintain good moral character by continuing to make false statements. Documents say he lied about multiple deputies’ post-certification, including an SRO and chief deputy.
