The Dunlap Fire Department has been deployed with Dunlap Police, Sequatchie County Rescue Squad, Chattanooga Fire, and Jasper Highlands Fire to assist with operations in Unicoi County after the flooding from the hurricane.
Crews arrived safely at the staging area at around 1:00 AM Central Time on Monday. They expect sporadic updates as crews are still contending with poor cell phone service in the area. They ask that everyone keep the crew and all those in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina in your thoughts and prayers.
Lieutenant Jody Lockhart will lead the task force, along with Firefighters Trey Birdwell, Trevor Clark, Alex Osnes, and Hunter Schuman. Dunlap Police Detective Wallace Cunningham and three Sequatchie County Rescue Squad members are joining them.
One of the many things that makes electric cooperatives great is the network of support that they have from fellow cooperatives.
Many have suffered devastation over the last few days and have called for help. SVEC is proud to be able to send three crew members of some of our finest linemen to respond. When others evacuate, we congregate!!
Please keep these men in your thoughts and prayers as they travel to Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, Inc. in South Carolina, and work over the coming days.
