Marion Sheriff makes 9 arrests in “Operation Trick or Treat” sex offender compliance check

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports several arrests after three days of sex offender compliance checks across the county in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals’  Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and local law enforcement agencies.

Over the course of three days this week officers conducted compliance checks leading to 9 arrests for violations of the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry.

Additionally,  four warrants were issued and two other individuals are under review for possible federal violations.

Some of those arrested include Joshua Alexander Kilgore , John Foster Wooden of New Hope, Tyrell Lamoure Cunningham of South Pittsburg, Jason Andrew Flores-Nugent of Richard City, Calvin Duane Zundel of Whitwell, Thomas Layfate Denney of Kimball, and Kelly Herman Vaughn.

Officers report 16 firearms violations along with finding marijuana in several of the offender’s homes that were searched.

Overall, 62 people on the registry were checked this week between Monday, October 21 and Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
