At midnight, as the New Year rang in, the JHFD and JFD responded to a fire that originated from a fireplace at a home on River Bluffs Drive.
Upon arrival, they observed smoke coming from the eaves. They confirmed that everyone was safely out of the home and began extinguishing the fire.
The heat from the fireplace apparently ignited flammable material in the wall adjacent to it. The fire was contained within this wall but took time and effort to extinguish since drywall and stone needed to be removed to access and extinguish it.
All units cleared the scene at 3:30 on Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported.
