10 Years Later: Remembering Chattanooga’s Fallen 5

It has now been 10 years since five men in Chattanooga lost their lives in a terrorist attack here at home in the Tennessee Valley.

No one who was in Chattanooga on July 16, 2015 will ever forget the events of that day.

Muhammad Abdulazeez opened fire at the Lee Highway recruiting center before driving to the Navy Operational Support Center off Amnicola Highway, forcing his way in, and shooting more victims there.

Those killed included:

  • US Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Scott Smith
  • USMC Sgt. Carson Allen Louis Holmquist
  • USMC Staff Sgt. David Allen Wyatt
  • USMC Lance Cpl. Squire “Skip” Wells
  • USMC Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Joseph Sullivan

Ten years after the shocking terrorist attack that claimed the lives of these five service members, we look back on the day that changed the Tennessee Valley forever, and remember those brave lives lost while keeping us safe.
