Tennessee judges strike down 2 gun laws, ruling them unconstitutional

In Tennessee, a three-judge panel struck down two gun laws on Monday.

This will make it legal to carry a firearm in a public park, and it does away with the “Intent to go Armed” law.

The judges at the Gibson County Chancery Court ruled these two laws unconstitutional, saying they violated the 2nd Amendment.

The law that previously made it illegal to carry a firearm in a public park was struck down. This makes it now legal in Tennessee to openly or concealed carry a firearm in any municipal, county-or state-operated park, playground, civic center, or public recreational building.

The “Intent to go Armed” law made it illegal to carry a firearm if that person has the intention of using it. The court said the language of this law was “too broad,” and would allow officers to stop and arrest anyone with a gun.

These rulings take effect statewide.Â
