Local fire crews battled a garage fire in the 100 black of College Street in Jasper on Tuesday morning, which closed several neighborhood streets during morning drive-time hours while fire crews worked.

Jasper Volunteer Fire Department worked quickly to extinguish the flames in a garage structure attached to the home by a breezeway.
While the department had largely-protected the attached house, mutual aid from Kimball VFD and Jasper Highlands VFD was called-in after concerns that the fire might have spread into the attic of the house due to smoke present following the fire and due to scorching on the exterior of the house.
Jasper Highlands VFD used a thermal imaging camera to find the remaining hot spot, which was located in the roof of the garage and then the combined fire crews worked to extinguish it.
The scene was clear by 9:23am and the fire was completely extinguished.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
