Space Force Moving to Huntsville

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the U.S. Space Command headquarters would relocate from Colorado Springs to Huntsville, Alabama.

Trump reestablished the U.S. Space Command in 2018 after it had been merged into the U.S. Strategic Command in 2002. The command primarily aims to protect U.S. interests in space, particularly satellite networks vital for military operations.

In 2023, President Joe Biden reversed Trump’s decision, keeping the Space Force headquarters in Colorado Springs after Gen. James Dickinson argued that moving would harm military readiness. Air Force leadership continued to debate a possible move to Huntsville.
