A Sale Creek man is facing animal cruelty and assault charges after shooting a dog and later aiming the gun at a child.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Lloyd Trail on Monday after receiving a call about a weapon disorder.
Deputies learned that the suspect, Matthew Barlow, had left the scene in a white Cadillac. They spotted him in the parking lot of a store on Dayton Pike.
Authorities made contact with him while he was sitting in the passenger seat. Barlow admitted to shooting the dog for killing one of his pigs.
Barlow now faces the following charges:
- Aggravated cruelty to animals
- Aggravated domestic assault
