New speed cameras go into effect for two Chattanooga school zones

If you commute to and from the Chattanooga area or within the city limits during school hours, motorists now have more good reasons to be mindful of their speed.

The City of Chattanooga’s new school zone traffic cameras activate  for two school zones in the area starting on Monday, October 6th.

The Chattanooga Police Department says this will kick off a 30-day warning period, after which,  drivers caught violating the speed limit in the school zones can expect to receive a $50 fine and a citation.

The two school zones that go live on Monday can be found near Orchard Knob Elementary School and Brainerd High School.

Officials with Chattanooga Police want to remind drivers to watch their speed in all school zones and be mindful to pedestrians.
