A wrong-way collision during a police pursuit on southbound I-75 in Whitfield County resulted in three fatalities, as reported by the sheriff’s office.
The incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. Thursday near mile marker 336, when a deputy initiated a traffic stop for a speeding vehicle. The driver entered the northbound lanes, traveling against traffic, and subsequently collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.
All three individuals in the suspect’s vehicle died as a result of the crash. Shortly before 3 p.m., authorities had reopened all lanes along that section of the interstate.
