Area Hall of Fame Head Football Coach Resigns

Boyd-Buchanan School announced on Wednesday that head football coach Gary Rankin has resigned, concluding a four-season tenure that featured significant postseason success and an appearance in the state finals.

Rankin, who is a member of the National High School Hall of Fame, departs with 510 career victories.

During his time at Boyd-Buchanan, he achieved an overall record of 43-7, including a 36-3 mark over the past three seasons. Under his leadership, the teams reached the state semifinals in three out of four seasons, culminating in a state finals appearance in 2023.

Rankin described his tenure at the school as “a great ride” and expressed his gratitude to the community for its support.

Boyd-Buchanan has initiated the process of searching for its next head football coach.
