On Tuesday April 7, 2026, 12:22 p.m. Haletown Fire and Rescue responded to a brush fire at the 3000 block of Shellmound Road.
Upon arrival a smoldering slow moving fire had developed under a utility pole. Suppression efforts were quickly put underway and the fire was extinguished.
SVEC was dispatched to inspect the electric pole, and it was determined that a large bird nest had shorted against a hot wire. Haletown Fire and Rescue the fire burned a 1/4 of an acre.
