Jackson County EMA Asking Residents to Report Storm Damage

JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. — As rounds of severe weather moved through the area on Monday afternoon and evening causing damage in some portions of the region, the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency is asking residents to help by reporting any storm-related damage they encounter.

Emergency officials say reports from the public provide valuable information that helps local emergency managers and the National Weather Service assess storm impacts, verify conditions on the ground, and improve warning decisions during future weather events.

Residents are encouraged to provide the location of the damage, the time it occurred, and a description of what they observed.

Officials are particularly interested in reports involving:

  • Downed trees
  • Flooding
  • Wind damage
  • Hail
  • Structural damage to homes or buildings
  • Washed-out roads

Photos and videos can also be useful when submitted safely from a distance.

EMA officials stress that safety should remain the top priority. Residents are urged not to enter damaged buildings, drive through flooded roadways, or go near downed power lines.

Emergency management leaders say public reports can play an important role in supporting response and recovery efforts across Jackson County during and after severe weather events.
