On Sunday morning, two members of Haletown Fire and Rescue and a few members of MCSO were honored to join many other fire and emergency service agencies from across the region for the Chattanooga 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.
Together, participants gathered at Erlanger Park to remember and honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. Firefighters and Police climbed the equivalent of 110 floors, carrying with them the names of the sponders who lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York.
Throughout the climb, the actual FDNY radio traffic from that fateful morning echoed through the event, serving as a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness displayed that day. Upon completing the climb, each name was read aloud as a bell was rung in their memory.
As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, may we never forget the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the extraordinary courage shown by so many.
May we continue to honor their memory—not only in remembrance, but through our own commitment to serve others and to always Put Others First.
