Another exciting Friday night of high school football is on tap across the Sequatchie Valley, Northeast Alabama, and Northwest Georgia this week, with several important district and region matchups and local teams looking to continue their winning streaks as the regular season heads into its final weeks.
Marion County Warriors at Grundy County Yellowjackets
One of the biggest matchups in the valley this week takes place in Coalmont, where the undefeated Marion County Warriors (7-0) travel to face the Grundy County Yellowjackets (6-1).
Marion County looks to keep its perfect season intact, but the Warriors will face a tough Grundy County team that has been impressive throughout the season. The Yellowjackets are coming off a dominating 35-0 shutout victory over Monterey last week.
Grundy County’s only loss this season came on September 25th, when the Yellowjackets fell to York Institute in a 48-47 thriller.
Fans can catch live Warriors Radio coverage with Dave Daffron and Doug Ramsey beginning with the pregame show at 6:35 p.m. Central, followed by kickoff at 7 p.m. The game will stream live at theriver1049.com.
Lookout Valley Yellowjackets at South Pittsburg Pirates
South Pittsburg will also face a team of Yellowjackets this Friday as the Pirates welcome Lookout Valley to Beene Stadium.
The Pirates (5-1) will look to add another victory to their season against a Lookout Valley team that enters Friday’s contest with a 2-5 record.
Pirates Radio will have live coverage from Beene Stadium with Sean Dunwoody and Jeremy Jackson. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. Central, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
Fans can hear the game on 104.9 FM, 910 AM, and online at theriver1049.com.
Whitwell Tigers at Sale Creek Panthers
The Whitwell Tigers (2-5) are looking to bounce back this week after suffering a heartbreaking upset on the road at Midway last Thursday.
Despite their overall record, Whitwell remains unbeaten in district play at 2-0, making Friday’s trip to Sale Creek another important contest.
The Sale Creek Panthers (4-2) are also looking to rebound after falling 28-22 to the Howard Hustlin’ Tigers last week.
Tigers Radio will provide live streaming coverage with Cody Mosier and Caden Thacker beginning with pregame at 6:40 p.m. Central. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Listen live at theriver1049.com.
Community Vikings at Sequatchie County Indians
The Sequatchie County Indians return home to Dunlap this Friday following an impressive 44-10 district victory on the road at Watertown last week.
The Indians enter the matchup with a 4-3 overall record and a 2-1 mark in district play.
This week, Sequatchie County welcomes the Community Vikings from Unionville, Tennessee, for another round of district action as the Indians look to build on last week’s big road win.
The Indians Radio Broadcast Team will have live coverage on Country Roads 93.3 FM in Dunlap, beginning with the Tailgate Show, pregame coverage, and more during the 6 p.m. Central hour. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The game will also stream live at countryroads933.com.
Bledsoe County Warriors Have Open Week
The Bledsoe County Warriors have a bye this Friday and will return to action next week when they face the Grundy County Yellowjackets.
Northeast Alabama High School Football
Across the state line in Alabama, several area teams will be on the road Friday night.
The North Jackson Chiefs (4-2) travel to Grant, Alabama, for a region matchup against the Kate Duncan Smith DAR Patriots (2-4). The Patriots enter the contest with a 1-2 mark in region play. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Central.
The undefeated Scottsboro Wildcats will look to keep their perfect season alive as they travel to Somerville to take on the Brewer Patriots. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Central.
Meanwhile, the North Sand Mountain Bison hope to get back into the win column after a close 34-27 loss to Sand Rock last week. The Bison travel to face Collinsville on Friday, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. Central.
Northwest Georgia High School Football
In Northwest Georgia, the Dade County Wolverines return home to Trenton Friday night to host Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe (LFO).
The Wolverines are coming off a win over Fannin County last week and will look to carry that momentum into another home contest.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern, or 6:30 p.m. Central.
All games are scheduled for Friday, October 9, 2026.
