Emergency crews responded Monday afternoon to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 28 at John Burch Road in Dunlap that left one driver temporarily trapped inside a vehicle.

According to the Dunlap Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 3:00 p.m. to reports of a crash with injuries. When firefighters arrived, they found one vehicle in the grass off Highway 28 with the driver still inside. Officials said the vehicle had sustained heavy damage to the driver’s side door, preventing the occupant from exiting.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicle, removed the driver’s door glass, and used a Hurst spreader to force the door open. The driver, who suffered only minor injuries, was able to walk away after being freed.

Authorities said the second vehicle involved initially left the scene but was later located by law enforcement officers.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Sequatchie County Sheriff’s deputies, Dunlap Police Department, and Griswold’s Wrecker Service also assisted at the scene.
