South Pittsburg Rotary Foundation, SPARQ Awarded Civic Experiment Grant for Community Events

The South Pittsburg Rotary Foundation has been selected as a recipient of a Civic Experiment Grant through Thrive Regional Partnership, helping bring a series of free, family-friendly events to Marion County later this year.

According to an announcement shared by SPARQ South Pittsburg, the grant will support a partnership between the South Pittsburg Rotary Club and South Pittsburg Area Revitalization Quest, better known as SPARQ. The project is designed to encourage community engagement, civic participation, and neighborhood connections through events planned for the summer and early fall.

Organizers say the initiative will focus on bringing residents together in fun and meaningful ways while encouraging conversations about shared goals and the future of Marion County communities.

The funding comes through Thrive Regional Partnership’s Civic Experiment Grant Program, which supports grassroots projects across southeast Tennessee, northwest Georgia, and northeast Alabama. The program is backed by the Trust for Civic Life and provides funding for projects aimed at strengthening civic engagement and community collaboration.

Thrive Regional Partnership says the grants are intended to help communities “spark connection, collaboration, and problem solving” through local events and shared experiences. Grants range from $1,000 to $25,000 and support projects that encourage residents to work together on community-focused ideas.

In its announcement, SPARQ said the organization is grateful to be included among community-led projects from across the greater Chattanooga region and thanked Thrive Regional Partnership for the opportunity.

Additional details about the upcoming events are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
