Sen. Blackburn Reacts After Being Named in Alleged Terror Plot Targeting White House UFC Event

Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn says she is grateful to federal law enforcement after authorities say they foiled an alleged terror plot that targeted a recent UFC event at the White House—an event Blackburn attended.

According to federal investigators, five suspects are in custody and accused of participating in a larger plot that allegedly involved plans to launch explosive drones into the crowd attending UFC Freedom 250 before carrying out sniper attacks and attempting to storm White House grounds.

Court documents indicate Blackburn was among several public officials allegedly identified as potential targets by members of the group.

Blackburn was in attendance at the June event alongside President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, cabinet members, military personnel, and thousands of spectators.

“It was an incredible evening of top-level competition, patriotism, and celebration for our nation’s 250th anniversary as well as President Trump’s birthday,” Blackburn said in a statement released by her office. “But it could have gone horrifically wrong.”

Federal authorities say the alleged plot was disrupted before any attack could occur. Investigators allege the suspects had accumulated firearms, ammunition, tactical gear, and drones as part of their plans.

Among those allegedly targeted were President Trump, Vice President Vance, Blackburn, and several lawmakers from West Virginia.

“It is deeply unsettling that anyone could have such vitriol in their heart and would resort to such appalling political violence,” Blackburn said. “Make no mistake: Nothing will deter me from celebrating or serving this great nation.”

Blackburn also praised federal law enforcement officials involved in the investigation.

“I am grateful to Director Patel, the FBI, and every law enforcement officer for keeping attendees safe and for working day and night to track down all the participants in this terror plot,” she said.

Federal investigators say the suspects were motivated by anti-government views and hostility toward wealthy individuals and supporters of Israel. Authorities continue to investigate the case and have indicated additional individuals could face charges.

No injuries were reported, and the event proceeded without incident after law enforcement intervened.
