SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. — City leaders have officially signed a construction contract for a new recreation center that will serve residents of South Pittsburg and provide office space for Volunteer Behavioral Health.
According to the City of South Pittsburg, Mayor Shawn Henson and City Administrator Michael Hudson recently met with representatives from Wilder Construction to finalize the agreement for the project.
The new facility is expected to expand recreational opportunities for local residents while also providing additional community resources through the inclusion of office space for Volunteer Behavioral Health.

City officials described the project as a significant investment in the future of South Pittsburg, citing the benefits it will bring to local families and community members.
Construction on the recreation center is scheduled to begin in July 2026.
The city says updates on the project’s progress will be shared as construction moves forward.
