August 28 High School Football Recap

Silverdale 14, South Pittsburg 13: It was not the night South Pittsburg had hoped for on Friday as they fell to Silverdale for the second straight year. The Pirates scored with just 17 seconds remaining to pull within one, 14-13.

South Pittsburg decided to go for two points and the win, but the Seahawks’ defensive were able to the Pirates for the win.

Silverdale is (1-1), ranked No. 5 in Division II-AA. South Pittsburg came into the game as the Class 1A top ranked team.

The Pirates are back at home on Friday at they host Sequatchie County.

 

Bledsoe County 56, Whitwell 7: The Warriors outgained the Tigers (0-2) 432-152 in total yards in the win.

Whitwell travels to Marion County this Friday and Bledsoe will host Oneida.

 

Marion County 49, Polk County 7: The Warriors (2-0) offense got a lot help on the night. Colin Beason was 7-of-11 passing for 150 yards and a touchdown, and Taedyn Bibbs ran for 74 yards on just four carries, including a 31-yard touchdown. Neno Humphrey returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score, and Zaiden Humphrey finished with 62 receiving yards.

 

Sequatchie County 41, Signal Mountain 7: The Indians got 158 yards passing from Hunter Minton and a TD. He added 137 yards and 2 TD’s to lift his team to 1-1 on the season.

 

Grundy County 50, Innovation Academy 0: Vince Bryant scored three times on the ground, and T.K. Brown added two more as the Yellow Jackets moved to 2-0.

Grundy will host Lookout Valley on Friday.
