Thursday morning, Swiss Memorial Elementary in Grundy County was placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution after a male subject fled from a nearby residence while in possession of a firearm.
Grundy County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded immediately, and the male subject was quickly apprehended without further incident.
The soft lockdown was put in place to ensure the safety of students and staff while deputies handled the situation. There is no ongoing threat to the school or surrounding community.
The deputies worked in cooperation of Swiss Memorial Elementary staff during this incident.
