Drug Take Back Day is Saturday

The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS) and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) are encouraging Tennesseans to clean out their medicine cabinets and safely dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired medications during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time.

Take Back Day provides a free, safe, and anonymous way to dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications that are no longer needed or expired. Local coalitions and law enforcement work together to ensure that disposing is simple and effective. Clearing unused medications from the home helps reduce the risk of accidental poisoning and substance misuse while also protecting Tennessee’s environment and waterways.
