The Dunlap Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on Tuesday afternoon. The call came in just before 2:00 PM Central Time, for a home located in the Valley View community.
Officers with the Dunlap Police Department had units on the scene that reported smoke coming from the roof of the home.
Dunlap Engines 1 and 3, along with Tanker 1 and Rescue 2 responded to the scene along with a Puckett EMS ambulance. Signal Mountain Fire Department responded with an engine company as well, due to the heat and the initial 911 call reporting a fully-involved fire.
Firefighters were able to make entry into the home and found the fire in the middle of the structure, burning into the ceiling. A quick response and attack on the blaze was made, bringing it under control in a matter of minutes. Once the smoke was ventilated, firefighters were able to determine that the fire appeared to have started beneath the refrigerator, possibly due to a bad compressor.
There was no one home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported on the scene. The Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office had units on the scene, too, assisting with traffic control in and around the residence and neighborhood.
