Whitwell Man Arrested in Dunlap on Multiple Charges

On Monday (November 20), around 9:00 PM officers with the Dunlap Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Rankin Ave. Near lane drive in Dunlap. Officers approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Brian T. Young of Whitwell. Young had outstanding warrants out of Marion County for escape and violation of community corrections. Young was placed into custody on those warrants.

Dunlap Police located on Young’s person counterfeit pressed Fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, and a glass methamphetamine pipe.

Fentanyl pills, Alprazolam pills, a Glock handgun with 83 rounds of ammunition, and $1,912 in cash. Young advised officers that everything located belonged to him.

Two passengers and a small child were released from the scene.

The total amount of narcotics located or approximately 489 pressed fentanyl pills, 51 grams of methamphetamine, and three Alprazolam pills.

Young was transported to the Sequatchie County Jail and charged with possession of Schedule II Drugs (Fentanyl) for Resale, Possession of Schedule IV Alprazolam, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, Child Endangerment, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Driving while in Possession of Methamphetamine, and Tampering with Evidence.

Young was also issued a citation for failure to signal and no insurance. Young is scheduled to appear in Sequatchie County General Sessions court on December 15.
