Time is running out to get your tickets for the latest production for Marion County 4-H Performing Arts as they present Irving Berlin’s “Annie Get Your Gun” — coming to Jasper Elementary School April 18th – 20th, 2024.
The production, presented by Tower Community Bank and directed by Wesley Brewer, will feature on stage performances from area students from around the county as they perform the Irving Berlin classic telling of the story of the legendary Annie Oakley.
Annie Oakley is the best shot around, and she manages to support her little brother and sisters by selling the game she hunts. When she’s discovered by Col. Buffalo Bill, he persuades this novel sharpshooter to join his Wild West Show. It only takes one glance for her to fall head over heels for dashing shooting ace Frank Butler, who headlines the show. She soon eclipses Butler as the main attraction which, while good for business, is bad for romance. Butler hightails it off to join a rival show, his bruised male ego leading the way, but is ultimately pitted against Annie in a final shoot-out. The rousing, sure-fire finale hits the mark every time in a testament to the power of female ingenuity.
The performance will be our local 4-H program’s third county-wide musical presentation, however this will be the first time a production will feature performers from six schools across the county performing.
After expanding the program late last year to cover 7th-12th grade students, the program now includes performers from Marion County High, Richard Hardy, South Pittsburg High, Whitwell High, Jasper Middle School, and Whitwell Middle School.
Show times include Thursday, April 18th at 7:00pm; Friday, April 19th at 7:00pm; and Saturday, April 20th at 1:00pm and 7:00pm…all times Central.
General admission, all ages tickets are available now and can be purchased online through Eventbrite at tiny.utk.edu/mc4hpa.
Tickets are selling fast, so be sure to get yours before they sell out! No doubt, this will be the biggest show in town, as 4-H Performing Arts always brings the house down with an excellent performance.
