Officials with Lookout Valley High School informed the TSSAA and South Pittsburg High School on Monday that the they would be forfeiting their upcoming game with the Pirates due to a “small number of healthy players” on the Yellow Jackets’ roster.
Friday’s game at Lookout Valley would’ve been a Region 3-1A match for the teams, so with the forfeiture this moves the Pirates to 2-0 in the region and 3-2 overall on wins.
According to information obtained by the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the Yellow Jackets’ have sustained several player injuries since the season began, starting with only 19 members but soon expanding to 26.
The team has taken all shut-out losses so far this season including last week’s 70-0 loss to Whitwell which was played without four of team members who were out due to injuries.
With this forfeiture, Lookout Valley moves on to 0-5 on the season overall and 0-2 in the region. Lookout Valley still faces other region opponents including Sale Creek, Copper Basin, and Chattanooga Prep later this season.
South Pittsburg will be back in action at Beene Stadium on Friday, September 27th, 2024 when they face the 0-4 Innovation Academy Sentinels from Springfield, TN for homecoming.
