Scottsboro, AL Police identify victim in US-72 accident on Monday

The Scottsboro, Alabama Police Department says a vehicle accident on Monday claimed the life of a North Georgia man.

According to a release from the department, officers with the Scottsboro Police Department responded to the accident with assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Scottsboro Fire Department, and Highlands Ambulance Service. The two-vehicle accident happened at the intersection of US Highway 72 and Walmart in Scottsboro on Monday.

Officers located three subjects involved in the crash.

Two subjects were transported to Highlands Medical Center. One subject was treated for minor injuries, while another subject was pronounced dead at the hospital. The victim is 68-year-old Steve Combs of Trenton, Georgia.

No information was given on the condition of the third subject involved.

Authorities say the accident remains under investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
