The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is inspecting bridges and roadways following Hurricane Helene.
TDOT deployed five bridge inspectors and 12 Strike Force members to Unicoi, Hawkins, Greene, and Washington Counties to help with slope failures, drainage restoration, sinkholes, and bridge inspections.
TDOT said 27 sections of state roadways and 14 bridges are closed, and five bridges were destroyed.
A timeframe for repair or replacement has yet to be determined as crews continue their evaluations and inspections in the region.
