Prentice Cooper State Forest Closed Due to Wildfire

Prentice Cooper State Forest will be closed on Friday, March 14, due to the ongoing wildfires. Tennessee Forestry has suspended all burn permits through Monday.

Mullins Cove Volunteer Fire Department first responded to the fire in the Grandview Church of God area at 7:18 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to the state’s fire map website, the fire has spread to 130 acres and is 50 percent contained.

Prentice Cooper State Forest is located in southeastern Tennessee in Marion County, along the scenic Tennessee River Gorge. The forest is approximately 10 miles west of Chattanooga and is a very popular destination for visitors.
