A tragedy occurred after a fireworks display on Friday in nearby Franklin County. Officers with the Winchester Police Department responded to a medical emergency for a subject who had fallen at Twins Creek Marina Drive near Riverwatch Way at Tims Ford Lake.
Officers assisted during the incident, and at the time, it was believed that John Cobb, age 61 of Springfield, Tennessee, had a medical emergency and had fallen.
During Cobb’s medical treatment, it was discovered that he had been struck by what appeared to be a bullet, possibly from a rifle. Cobb later died from his injuries. Given the witness testimony and preliminary findings, it’s believed the bullet may have been fired recklessly into the air and struck Cobb during its descent. The incident took place between 9:10 and 9:25 on Friday.
