Families and young anglers will have the chance to fish for free next month during a special event planned at Fall Creek Falls State Park.
The park will host its annual Bobby Wilson Free Fishing Day on Saturday, June 6, beginning at 7 a.m. at the park’s softball fields. Organizers say the event is designed to encourage children and families to enjoy the outdoors and learn more about fishing in Tennessee.
According to event organizers, the first 200 children in attendance will receive a free fishing pole while supplies last. Complimentary bait, lures, snacks, and additional giveaways will also be available throughout the event.
The free event is open to youth and families, and no fishing license will be required during the statewide free fishing celebration. Registration is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m., with prize drawings expected around noon.
Fall Creek Falls State Park, located atop the Cumberland Plateau in Van Buren and Bledsoe counties, is one of Tennessee’s most visited state parks and is known for its waterfalls, hiking trails, camping, and outdoor recreation opportunities.
