Amazon is planning a new delivery station in Chattanooga’s Lookout Valley area that is expected to create more than 300 jobs and could provide a more convenient employment option for some residents of Marion, Sequatchie, and counties to the west of the Scenic City.
The company announced plans to develop a roughly 200,000-square-foot delivery station at 3400 Cummings Road in Lookout Valley. The facility is expected to begin operations in 2028 and will support package processing and last-mile delivery services throughout Southeast Tennessee.
For workers in communities such as Jasper, Whitwell, Dunlap, South Pittsburg and surrounding areas including Grundy County and Northeast Alabama, the Lookout Valley location could offer a shorter and more direct commute than Amazon’s existing fulfillment center at Enterprise South near Ooltewah, located on the opposite side of the Chattanooga metro area.
In addition to the more than 300 jobs expected at the facility itself, the operation is anticipated to support independent delivery service partners that serve customers throughout the region.
Local officials say the investment further strengthens Hamilton County’s role as a major logistics and distribution center.
“Amazon’s decision to bring a new delivery station here is further evidence that Hamilton County is one of the country’s most important logistics hubs,” Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp said. “This investment will create more than 300 jobs, strengthen our local economy, and create new opportunities for working families.”
Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly said the project will create additional employment opportunities while helping improve delivery service across the region.
“It’s always great news when you hear that a company like Amazon is continuing to invest in the Chattanooga region,” Kelly said. “In today’s economy, there are fewer and fewer jobs available for residents who lack certifications and degrees, and Amazon helps to fill this opportunity gap as they upgrade their delivery speed in the Chattanooga market.”
Amazon said the new facility will be the company’s first delivery station in Chattanooga. The project was developed in partnership with the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, city development officials and local leaders.
The company’s investment adds to its growing Tennessee footprint. Amazon reports it has created more than 25,000 full- and part-time jobs across the state since 2010 and invested more than $30 billion in Tennessee through infrastructure, wages and support for businesses.
For residents of the Sequatchie Valley, the new facility represents not only another major employment center developing along the western side of the Chattanooga market, potentially expanding job opportunities within a more manageable commuting distance for many local workers, but also a potential boost in delivery service, with expanded capacity expected to support faster shipping speeds, improved last-mile logistics and additional delivery options for Amazon customers across the growing region the new facility will serve.
