Scottsboro Police Make Drug Arrest Following Traffic Stop

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — A Scottsboro Police Department traffic stop over the weekend resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old woman on multiple drug-related charges.

According to the Scottsboro Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop at approximately 9:42 p.m. on June 14 after observing a vehicle with multiple traffic violations.

During the stop, officers identified the driver as Nikita Leigh-Horton Craig, 26, of Alabama. Police said officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle while speaking with Craig.

After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, officers reportedly discovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia commonly associated with drug use.

As a result of the investigation, Craig was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Marijuana, Second Degree
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Police said Craig was transported to the Scottsboro City Jail, where she was booked without incident before being transferred to the Jackson County Jail due to the felony controlled substance charge.

The Scottsboro Police Department said the arrest was part of its ongoing efforts to enforce traffic laws and combat illegal drug activity within the community.
