A woman identified in a police report as a Tennessee Department of Human Services employee is charged with identity theft after investigators say she used a deceased woman’s EBT benefits in Marion County.
Authorities are working to confirm the employment status of Carla Louise Collins. Kimball Police say Collins manually entered the late victim’s EBT card number to make two purchases in June, weeks after the woman died. Surveillance video showed the suspect using her Food City Value Card during the transaction, which police say linked the activity to Collins.
After consulting the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, investigators obtained warrants for identity theft and fraudulent use of an EBT card.
