A man accused of shooting a Scottsboro Police officer in the hand and then leading authorities on a 21-hour-long manhunt back and in July is facing two new charges.
According to court documents, after a grand jury hearing in early September, 29-year-old Daniel McCarn is now charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle and attempting to elude a police officer.
McCarn was already charged with attempted murder and leaving the scene of an accident before receiving the additional charges.
The incident began early on July 26 when officers responded to a domestic violence call at McCarn’s parents’ home. Police say McCarn fled, leading officers on a vehicle chase that ended in a crash on Highway 72. After exiting his vehicle, McCarn fired shots, hitting Lt. Derek Porch in his left hand.
McCarn is being held in the Jackson County Jail on a $10 million bond.
