FAITH: Enjoy the Freedoms of Being A Christian

Three of us shared a garage apartment in Atlanta. It was small and crowded. The kitchen was smaller than a closet. To defrost the refrigerator required pulling it out of the kitchen and into the so-called living room. We were fortunate to have found a place in walking distance of Emory University. There, in the …

David Carroll’s News and Notes: The Cursive Comeback

I just saw a TV commercial for an “Atlanta Braves 2023 All-Star Game Bat.” For $139, you get a baseball bat signed by the eight Braves who were selected to the All-Star game. I wanted to take a closer look at the bat, so I went online to examine it. Just as I had suspected, …

David Carroll’s News and Notes: I Came to Play

FAITH: It’s Good To Have Quiet Time

I don’t know why, but kids love to visit noisy places. Loud music, lots of games, and lots of other kids. Some of us adults frequent these places, too. For some reason a lot of birthday parties are held in such places. It is usually highly efficient, good food, but mass confusion if you’re trying …

David Carroll’s News and Notes: Leave My CPAP Out of It

You know you’re getting old when you remember that we used to elect a president every 4 years, and we didn’t think about the next election until at least 3 years later. These days, the next presidential campaign begins immediately after the inauguration. In 2020 we elected a guy, and for reasons both good and …
