The City of Dunlap held their annual Independence Day celebration on July 4. The day began with a tremendous parade. Smalltown America Christmas will be held in historic downtown Dunlap on Saturday, December 2. The Sequatchie County-Dunlap Chamber of Commerce sponsors this. Activities will take place throughout the day, wrapping up with the Christmas parade at 4:30 p.m., followed by the tree lighting at Harris Park.
The VFW Post 6362 presented the annual Veterans Day Parade in Jasper on Saturday. A very nice crowd attended the event. Hugh Jordan, a US Air Force Vietnam Veteran, was this year’s Grand Marshall. Many vehicles, including several classics, the Marion County High School Band, multiple emergency vehicles, and others, honored area veterans.
A Veterans Day Parade was conducted on Saturday at 10:00 AM in Dunlap. The parade began at the County Courthouse on Cherry Street, to Hwy 127, southbound to Hwy 28, and ended at the Veterans Memorial Park. A community Veterans ceremony was held at the conclusion of the parade.
